In choosing a career I have already begun to pave the path to my goal of becoming a veterinarian. I have set career goals, I have started my higher education, and I have people who have greatly influenced my thoughts and decisions. However, There is an old saying that if you are trying to choose a career, you should think about what you would do if you did not have to work. These are words that I hear all too often from family and friends when talking about future careers, “be happy in what you do” they say. This is the most important piece of information to consider. Since the eighth grade I have wanted and worked towards the goal of becoming a veterinarian. Some goals that I have made to become a veterinarian include: gaining experience in the veterinary field, taking the GRE, working hard on the veterinary school application, and completing veterinary school. I have already begun working towards accomplishing my set goals. For starters, I was employed at a veterinary clinic during my junior and senior years of high school. Some things that I hope to learn from the class is how to present my self in job interviews in the future. To be able to discover internships and career opportunities would benefit me very much in the long run. Another thing that I hope to learn is how to develop a resume. To evaluate my current experiences and to make goals to develop new skill sets and experiences. Also I hope to explore my major more in depth and gather more information.
