War horse (directed by Steven Spielberg) is a inspiring and uplifting drama, based upon a book (written by Michel Morpurgo) in 1912 Ted Narracott (Alberts father) brings home a horse. He thinks it will be a addition for the family, to help grow more crops. Rose Narracott instits that the horse should be taken back to the location it was brought from as it costed to much. Albert tries to convince his mother that the horse (Joey) will help them earn more money. Albert agrees to train joey. At the beginning of World War I, Albert and Joey are forcibly parted when Ted,sells the horse to the British cavalry. Against the backdrop of the Great War, Joey begins an odyssey full of danger, joy and sorrow, and he transforms everyone he meets along the way, teaching them a story. Meanwhile Albert, unable to forget Joey, he searches the battlefields of France to find Joey and bring him home.There are three aspects I will discuss throughout this essay: angles/shots, editing and sound effects/soundtrack .These are each extremely significant throughout the film, all these …show more content…
Michael Kahn did an exceptional job with the editing. The editing was slightly formalistic because of the odd angles and cuts and even though the story itself was realistic. This may seem to be a poor choice in some scenes but if you look at the movie as whole you can see the editing captured the raw emotions during the more intimate scenes. When Joey was stuck in the wire, Kahn used a very unique kaleidoscope effect. The use of this effect gave the idea that there was more to this than meets the eye, it works with editing because of the way it slowly transitioned scene into where the man was shot. The use of this editing technique creates a sense of relationship and intrigue about the other characters. Obviously, the focus of this story is on Albert and Joey, but Kahn includes the people around him eg Alberts parents and the
