For many years there has been a war on drugs in schools across America. Due to the increase of school violence, administration across the nation are now allowed to conduct targeted searches of students’ lockers and backpacks. The Supreme Court has ruled this a legal action giving school officials the right to search students’ persons and belongings when backed up by reasonable suspicions of students’ having drugs or weapons. Many feel as though this is a gross violation of the students’ right to privacy, while others feel as though the schools officials are responsible for the well-being of the students’ when they are in school, but are targeted searches crossing the line?
