Everyone likes to have fun on roller coasters. This is just one of the many things that welders build. In order to appreciate a welding career, one must first understand the education/training, advancements/salary, benefits/hazards. Before thinking about starting a career in welding, there is some education/training that is needed. Welding is sticking two pieces of metal together with heat, and something to melt into both pieces of metal (“Welding | Types & Definition”). The way to get the heat is through voltage, amperage, or gas (“Welding | Types & Definition”). To become a welder, you are required to have a high school degree, or a GED (“How Long Does it Take to Become a Welder?”). Basic knowledge on how to stay safe from various chemicals is also very important to know while in this industry (Ferguson). Whenever working around chemicals and gases that are in very high pressurized tanks, it can be very dangerous with the heat being so close (Ferguson). If too much heat gets on or around the tanks, the tanks could explode and cause serious health problems to people that are around the area (Ferguson). In workshops there are designated areas for all the work that needs to be done to keep everyone safe (Ferguson). There are also designated areas for empty gas tanks and full ones to keep everyone safe and stop them from causing damage to other equipment (Ferguson). To keep all workers safe, everything that is explodeable must be removed from the immediate area of where the work is being done (Ferguson). If one isn’t using gas to weld and is using electricity to weld, then getting electrocuted is a possibility (Ferguson). It is very preventable if proper care is taken of the equipment in use (Ferguson).
