In the late fourth century, the Western Roman Empire crumbled after a nearly 500 -years run of the worlds greatest empire. No one really knows why the empire fell, but there are many theories. Some of the reasons why Historians think it fell are invasions by Barbarian tribes, economic troubles, the rise of the Eastern Empire. Troubles with building societies may have caused many problems for the Romans later in time. Many Germanic tribes that live in Northern Europe were pushed out because the Huns’ Went and invaded this region of land. After the Germanic tribes were pushed out they settled by the Roman borders. One of the major tribes that sacked Rome was called the Goths. The Goths were not just one big group they were actually two groups. Group one was named the Visigoths, the second group was the Ostrogoths. Romans fought the barbarians at the borders of the Roman Empire for many years. The Visigoths were the part that sacked the Western Part of Rome in 410. This problem could have led to economic troubles. Economic troubles and overreliance on slave labor are one of the other things people say lead to the fall of Rome. Even as Rome was under attack from outside forces, it was also crumbling from the financial crisis. The economy of Rome also dependent on slave labor. Rome got most of their slaves from war, but in the second century, they were not in as many wars, making it so they did not get as many slaves. There was also a shortage of coins or money. The Roman empire at its most prosperous time in history started at the river of the Euphrates which is located in the Middle East, now days in Iran. It then stretched all the way to the Atlantic Ocean where it ended. The Romans had amazing roads, but the empire was just so great that it took a great deal longer to get a message to someone. This lead to slow ineffective communication. The website www.unrv.com says, “Approximately 50,000 miles (80,000 km) of roads spread Roman civilization.”. It would take a very long time for the military to come and fight a
