George Washington was the first president of the United States of America. Washington began his presidency in the late 1780’s and it continued to the late 1790’s. He served two terms of four years. When Washington first became president of the United States he set up three departments of the federal government. The three branches are called judicial, executive and legislative. This caused separation between the three branches so that there was separation of power. Then Washington chose the prominent political figures to head the new departments. It was decided that the President would rule the Executive branch.
With the judiciary act Congress nominated John Jay’s lead the supreme court as chief justice. The senate approved John Jay’s
