The Articles of Confederation and the United States Constitution are two very different documents, yet each was built to serve the same purpose. What makes these two historic documents similar, and what are their differences? The Articles are a very weak set of rules for the government. The Constitution fulfills most of the weaknesses, such as inability to tax, initiate war, or pay off debt (also due to the lack of taxation). While there are differences, there are also similarities.
