True or False? No two zebra has the same stripe pattern. It’s true! Zebras each have their own unique stripe pattern, just like a human fingerprint. If you haven’t guessed already, this report is going to be all about zebras!
First of all, what are zebras? Zebras are a member of the Equus group, along with horses and donkeys. They are are black and white striped animals with a stiff black mane , big ears and long tails. The males are called stallions, and the females are called mares. “Grown zebras weigh 500 to 900 pounds and are 4 to 5 feet tall at the shoulder.” Says Anthony D. Fredericks, author of Zebras. They are not predators, they are prey. They live together in herds that can have as many as five hundred members!
