Odysseus is brave like most heroes, an important trait for putting their life on the line. He is also determined like many heroes that are determined to finish a quest, fight someone, etc. Odysseus lived in ancient times where heroes were strong, but not all modern heroes have to be strong. Heroes like Odysseus, as well as modern heroes need to be able to use their brain to figure out how to get out of trouble. Loyalty can be important to heroes as well because some heroes need to have loyalty to their partners or country. A modern hero and an ancient hero can have similar traits like bravery, determination, strength, the ability to use their brain to think, and loyalty, but some traits like strength aren’t always required.

When a hero is determined to do something, they usually succeed. Determination is very important for any hero, no matter whether its modern times or ancient times, and it is important for any hero that wants to make a difference. Any modern hero and even ancient heroes have to have determination to be able to fight for others or to just complete a task. Odysseus is also strong, which is important for getting himself out of trouble and saving his men. Being strong can be beneficial for a hero because they might need to fight someone or lift up something like the spirits of his men or an extremely heavy item. Not all heroes need strength, but a lot of heroes in ancient times did. In modern times there are people who don’t need a lot of strength. They can just be the average everyday person and still be a hero. For example, a modern hero can be someone who simply thinks of a new idea like an automatically braking car that stops if it senses something in front of it.
