Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, died at Monticello July 4, 1826 from unknown causes. Thomas Jefferson impacted America greatly. He was the primary author of the declaration of independence, which gave all men equal rights and gave overall more freedom to the citizens. Besides that Thomas Jefferson had many other accomplishments impacting the whole country.

Thomas Jefferson was born April 13, 1743 at Shadwell, Virginia. He was the son of Peter Jefferson and Jane Randolph. Jefferson's family was very wealthy therefore Thomas inherited a landed estate from his father and started to build Monticello at the age of 26. When he was 29 years old, he married Martha Wayles and together they had 6 children with only 2 surviving
