Have you ever watched or read “Where the Red Fern Grows”? Where the Red Fern Grows is about a boy with a dream. This little family, who didn’t have much money and lived in a small house, wanted their son Billy to have a dog, but not just any dog, he wanted coonhounds to train to hunt for coons. Although, Billy’s family was too poor to buy them but Billy had an idea that he would work and work for the money until her had enough. He finally had enough to but the coonhounds that he had worked hard for. His grandpa had made sure they were delivered and Billy had left and was on his way to get the dogs. He went to the competition to find out he didn’t win because his grandpa was hit by a tree and he had to give up three coons to go save him. Although, he didn’t win the gold cup and the money, the winner gave the prize to hi for the wonderful work of his coonhounds. Just like in the book Old Dan was killed. Papa buried Old Dan himself. Little Ann then passed from sadness and depression. Papa then buried Little Ann as well. All sadness was brought to the family.

Although there are many differences between the movie and the book, there are also similarities. In the book and the movie, both Old Dan and Little Ann get their names in the same way. Old Dan and Little Ann sadly die the same way in the movie and the book. The two bodies were buried beside each other. The legend that an angel buried little red fern had happened. Before they moved away, Billy had seen where the red fern grows between the bodies.

I can’t choose if I like the book or the movie better. They are both awesome but sad. I like the book because it goes into so much detail. Then again, I like the movie but it is so sad, it is more sad than the book. I enjoyed both. I’ll never forget that book and the movie. Most of all i won’t forget the story of where the red fern grows between the loved bodies, especially how much meaning and emotion it
