Pit Bulls are assumed to be aggressive, thus the preconceived judgment, by society, of their actions are automatically attributed to their assumed inherently aggressive tendencies. Every dog has the potential to become aggressive and the Pit Bull breed should not be judged as more so than others. Although these types of aggression are in some respects genetic, as they satisfy various biological directives, environmental and developmental factors also determine whether aggression is expressed (Abordo). Dominance aggression can be expressed when a dog is the only dog present in a house and feels as though they are the leader and they would become aggressive when other dogs or humans are presented to them because they feel as if they need to assert their status.
