There have been many presidents in the past, but which ones were actually successful? The top five most successful presidents and how they became successful.
The first most successful president was Abraham Lincoln he was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. He had two siblings Sarah and Tommy, he was the second of the children. On November 4, 1842 Lincoln married Mary Todd they had four children William, Edward, Tad, and Robert. Lincoln served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.When Lincoln was 52 years old he ran for US president, he won the election and became the 16th president of the United States. His main goal was to preserve the union,but once he became president the south seceded and war broke out, during the war Lincoln gave many speeches such as; the First Inaugural Address, The Emancipation Proclamation, The Gettysburg Address, and the Second Inaugural Address. After the war many wanted to punish the south, but Lincoln just wanted to reconstruct the nation without bitterness and for the nation to be whole …show more content…
Roosevelt was third most successful president he was born in Hyde Park, New York on January 30,1882. He had one older half brother James Roosevelt. At age 24 Franklin married Eleanor Roosevelt his 5th cousin on St. Patrick's day year of 1905. Franklin D. Roosevelt was 51 when he became president, he was the 32nd president of the United States and the only president who was elected four times in a row. He led the United States through The Great Depression and the 2nd World War and expanded the powers of the federal government known as the “New Deal”. Franklin saved many American lives when he stocked up on war supplies he also authorized atomic bombs. Franklin D. Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945 in Warm Springs, Georgia, he had hospital test that showed that he had atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, and congestive heart failure.
