Hamilton’s honor, drive and honesty would be the three characteristics that would make and break him in politics and in life. His honestly is what prevented him from taking advantage of the successes of his financial programs in the United States. He was ridiculed by his colleagues and peers for being to honest. His drive and determination are what made his ideals materialize and flourish. As a very driven intellectual man he was able to convince and persuade people to follow his lead. The first example of bravery and ability to convince is when a mob comes to the gates at King’s College and demand Myles Copper, head of the college and pro-British head of the college. Hamilton would confront the mob, alone, and argues with the crowd that they are doing wrong and not for the betterment of liberty. He was able to lecture long enough to allow for Cooper to escape with his life. His continued drive, even when the odds are against him, allowed him to convince the states to attend the thirteen-state meeting the would eventually transforms to the Constitutional Convention and then many months later ratify the Constitution. I relate this to how current NFL’s fans relate to Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. He is successful and a winner therefore he becomes disliked by all opposing team fans. Whether because of jealousy or envy, no one likes the guy on top. Same happened to Hamilton. Anti-Federalist would see Hamilton’s ideals as leading the country back to where it came from under British rule that Hamilton would benefit from by creating a monarchy. Their accusations would lead to many direct blows to Hamilton’s honor.
