In today’s society the ongoing debate on whether or not Americans should allow our students that happen to carry concealed weapons permits to be able to have their firearms present while attending classes on school campuses. This decision has caused a sort of rift in our nation and has Americans divided on the issue. On the pro-guns side many state that carrying a concealed weapon may allow students to defend themselves in certain situations while anti guns on campus supporters believe that guns are the soul root of the problem and should be taken away all together let alone be allowed on school campuses. Both sides presenting reasonable evidence to support their claims thus causing the debate to be ongoing. While I agree that guns in the wrong hands do pose a serious threat to citizens everywhere, I also accept the idea that this problem can be solved by preparing the young induvial on campus nation-wide by allowing them the opportunity to fully protect themselves by being able to carry on campus grounds. …show more content…
While that may be a standpoint one might view this ordeal as others can say that in this particular situation student’s willing and able to defend themselves is not in fact fighting fire with fire but finding a solution to a problem that plagues our nation. A problem also being that many supporters of anti-gun laws are only aware of the instances that school shooters have prevailed in carrying out a number of injuries towards civilians and not showing the examples of gun owners dissolving many of the situations. As Timothy Wheeler cites in his well composed essay titled “There’s a Reason They Choose Schools” he triumphantly cites examples of gun owners successfully stopping other homicidal maniacs from enacting their rage upon soft targets that schools often appear to
