Picture yourselves as women in Elizabethan times. Can you feel the expectations of society weighing down on you. You have have to obey your male relatives without questions, wear lead based makeup, be bled to be pale, and the most weirdest one, you’re not allowed to act in theatres. I mean, who can be a better woman than a man? The list goes on and on. And failure to follow all of these will include punishments.

Slide 2:
Like being beaten on a whipping stool and decapitation.

I’m sure you all know that Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was based around the Elizabethan times. So today, I will be talking about the representation of women and how it affects men's values and attitudes in Romeo and Juliet.
