One role that women played is that they went undercover to become spies. These women would gather information from the enemy, that would help the United States locate the enemy and bring them down. Many of the women spies had benefits, like Claire Phillips who was a singer and dancer. “Phillips opened her own night club, located near the harbor where military ships docked, the Tsubaki club became an instant hit. Phillips made sure everyone knew this was a fancy club and only high-level Japanese military officers would be welcome there”(33-34). Many spies would gather and put there information together to try and fight the war. Spies would also help at any chance that they could if citizens were in danger. “In addition to gathering information, Hall also helped allied Pilots who had been shot down over France. She smuggled them and other prisoners of war (POWS) out of France. Additionally she set up safe houses, secret places where agents could base their operations in the underground fight against the Nazis” (16). Virginia Hill would set up areas so that all the United States agents could come together to share ideas and information.
