Have you ever had people you have never seen enter your home unexpectedly and take your home? Well, that is what happened to the Native Americans. And they were not happy about it. The Native Americans are from the New World, which is now called North and South America. They were attacked by the Europeans and mistreated. They suffered hardship from disease, torture, and ineffective weapons in battle. Native American people got diseases from the Europeans. When the Europeans came to America, they brought diseases that the people didn’t have antidotes for. One main disease was smallpox ( Doc. 2. Other diseases that were harmful included measles and typhus(nih.gov). Professionals estimate about 90% of Native Americans were wiped out by the disease.
