As I type this I am sitting in a car somewhere in Georgia on my way to Virginia, fleeing a hurricane that could completely change my life. It has been ten hours since we left our house in South Florida and we still have another ten hours to go with the amount of traffic on the road. We left suddenly, in the middle of the night; I never even got a chance to say goodbye to my friends.
Where I live, currently, everything is perfectly maintained. Every tree and bush trimmed regularly, the houses all picturesque on the outside. I don’t think I’ve ever seen graffiti anywhere in my community. It seems ridiculous to complain about the luxury of living in the second safest city in Florida, but I’ve always felt trapped.
