A murder can face up to life in prison in almost all circumstances. Many are against this highly controversial subject but unfortunately some people still agree with it. What is it some may ask? This legalized form of murder is abortion. Pro-choice individuals will argue that “most people who are against abortion will never even become pregnant” (Amplifyyourvoice.org). Pro-life people believe that the Lord places children in peoples lives for a reason that, often times, only he knows. As a teenager it seems that often times pregnancy is publicized for all the positive effects and never the negative and challenging effects a child can cause in their life. On top of that schools no longer seem to teach abstinence they are often more focused on “safe sex” instead of no sex. This can often lead teens to think that as long as they use a condom they are protected against an unplanned pregnancy. According to Sue Alford from Advocates for youth, “only two of every 100 couples who use condoms consistently and correctly will experience an unintended pregnancy” but who is to say that these teens are using condoms correctly? (Alford) How about this in 2011, 73,200 women obtained abortions in Texas alone and 533,200 teen girls became pregnant…14% resulted in induced abortions. That means the 16.9 per 1000 teen girls who become pregnant will have an abortion (guttmacher.org). Texas is just one of 50 states can you imagine the number of abortions in the other 49? It is hard to imagine walking into a clinic 24 hours before your “operation”, as the state calls them, is preformed and have an ultrasound done, then very graphically have the nurse explain to you how the innocent baby you created is going to die “At current rates one in 3 women will have had an abortion by the time they are 45” (guttmacher.org) Many pro-life individuals are often asked what if a girl is raped? Statistics show that rape and incest are cited for less than one percent of all abortions (guttmacher.org). In 2011 Texas was ranked fourth in total abortion rates among the United States! Often times people hear of girls getting abortions because they can not afford a child, or because they are not ready to support a family, or even because they just don’t want anything to do with children yet this is truly heart breaking because it is absolutely free to place a child up for adoption! A woman placing her child up for adoption will have to make no payments or even have to worry about dealing with that child ever again in their life. An abortion on the other hand, cost around $300 in Texas! That is a lot of money to pay to kill an innocent defenseless child. There are families all over the United States that are unable to get pregnant but are looking to expand their family. It was cause less grief and personal stress to place the child into a loving home and allowing them to live their life and grow up with endless possibilities than to have the thought in the back of my mind that I killed an innocent child. Another law on abortions is that all abortions are required to take place before the 20 week mark. 1.5 percent of the 1.21 million abortions each year, or about 18,000, occur later than 20 weeks after conception, and many of these involve medical emergencies, said Ms. Nash of the Guttmacher Institute. All of these are illegal in Texas. Still if it is illegal for an abortion to occur after 20 weeks why are 18,000 are still being performed? 75 people were
Ban Abortion with Few Exceptions
Abortion is one of the most controversial topic today. “More than one million abortions are performed each year in the United States, and an estimated total of 54 million pregnancies have been terminated since 1973, according to Guttmacher Institute data” (Wetzstein). In U.S.A. many states are banning abortion because of the growing numbers of abortion performed but there should be exceptions in some cases. Pregnancies due to rape/incest, teen pregnancies, and complicated…
What can or has been done to help the level of rates of teen pregnancy before and now? The level of rates became extremely horrific starting from the 1900’s. Teen pregnancy became a fad apparently because it seemed like everybody was getting pregnant. “90 percent of all teen pregnancies are unplanned and unwanted.” (page 39 Jane Claypool Miner) “Pregnancy is closely related to social and economic issues, including educational attainment of teen mothers and their children…
Should abortions be legal?
Abortion should be legal, because there are too many things that go wrong. A women could be raped and need to get one because she doesn’t want to look at the child and doesn’t want to feel it grow, freedom of choosing what to do and how government involvement in personal decisions such as this could lead to potentially having the government deem how many children you can have or even how many pregnancies you are allowed, medical reasons for abortion, and the ability…
Abortion – Moral or Immoral?
I would argue that abortion is immoral.
Abortion is a debate that continues day in, day out, year in, year out. We have laws that have been set into place, yet the debate continues. The opposing sides in the debate each strongly believe they are right. The pro-choice supporters see a woman's right to choose as central to the debate. The pro-choice advocates see the life of the baby as the most important concern. Very little middle ground exists on the issue…
Should Women Have The Right To Have An Abortion?
What is abortion? Abortion is a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. There are many different types of abortions, for example oral or surgical. The oral method is the the Plan B pill, also known as the morning after pill. The morning after pill is the emergency contraceptive pill (not birth control). “It can be used to prevent pregnancies up to five days (120hours)” (http://www.abortionno.org/resources/fastfacts.html). The other method is…
Abortion is murder
Women find many reasons to kill a poor innocent baby before there even born; the question is why they do that. In my opinion, when a woman chooses to have sex, she is taking a chance. She does this of her own free will, and is in control over what she is doing. If a person decides to have sex, whether it is done with protection or not, the result is her responsibility and she must be willing to deal with the consequences. One consequence is getting pregnant. When…
Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a woman’s pregnancy. I strongly believe if it is a woman’s interest to get an abortion, then they should be able to get one. No questions asked. It is the woman’s body and it is her decision what to do with that body. I believe woman have the natural right to abortion because: woman should want their children, woman should have total control over their body, if abortion is illegalized the ‘back alley’ abortion would go up, and because abortion…
Abortion vs Adoption
Imagine its your seventeenth birthday but instead of getting ready with your friends, you find yourself in the office of your local GP staring at a painting behind his desk as he talks you. But you’re barely listening to what he says because you can’t get over his last two words you’re pregnant.
The million of thoughts that run through your head in that moment overwhelms you so much you can barely breathe. What are you going to do? How are you going to tell your parents…
limit communist China's population growth. Although designated a "temporary measure," it continues a quarter-century after its establishment. The policy limits couples to one child. Fines, pressures to abort a pregnancy, and even forced sterilization accompanied second or subsequent pregnancies.
It is not an all-encompassing rule because it has always been restricted to ethnic Han Chinese living in urban areas. Citizens living in rural areas and minorities living in China are not subject to the law…
