Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809. He was a lawyer in his early years in politics but soon move onto being a bigger voice throughout the nation. As his career grew longer he got higher up the political ladder all the to the 16th President in 1861 till his assassination in 1865. His war history was short as he served in the Illinois Militia during the Black Hawk War. Abraham Lincoln is an influential advocate of human equality through is actions of supporting anti-slavery, evolving the Republican Party, and preserving the Union throughout the Civil War. First, Abraham Lincoln impacted Human Equality through abolishing slavery.
“During the last two years of his life he welcomed African Americans as visitors and friends in a way no president had done before. One of his friends was the distinguished former slave Frederick Douglass, who once wrote: “In all my interviews with Mr. Lincoln I was impressed with his entire freedom from prejudice against the colored race.” (Current).
