Should Texas retain the partisan election of judges (with or without straight-ticket voting?) why or why not?
In my opinion, Texas should not retain partisan election of judges with straight-ticket voting because there are disadvantages of this choice that limits the quality of the judicial justice system. With the partisan election, judges are elected by virtue of being allied to a particular party as opposed to merit or qualification. Judges who are well educated and competent are left out of office due to their party affiliation and are replaced by undesirable candidates. Voters who are most likely uninformed would use the party label on ballot boxes which is their preference as a guide in choosing a candidate. I believe that this contributes
