Ishmael is a author and a human rights activist who rose to fame with his acclaimed memoir, A Long Way Gone. Ishmael is still currently living. Ishmael had a rough childhood growing up at the age of just 13 he was sent of to fight in his country’s civil war; he was taken to Sierra Leone army given drugs, an AK-47 and an order to kill. Between 12 and 13 he lost his entire family which was his mother, father and his two brothers.
