Are Juveniles Deserve Life Sentence Without Parole?

Supreme Court claimed that juveniles could not be have a life sentence without parole in 2012 because it involved the Eighth Amendment. This regulation is sincere because of multiple reasons. First, adolescents are not responsible at their age because their brains are not fully developed. Also, teenagers are not mature yet but they will change the way they think and become more mature over time. Lastly, some teenagers go through harsh events, like violence in their families or violence in their neighborhood, that cause them to make violent crimes. I strongly agree with the Supreme Court that juveniles do not deserve life sentences. Juveniles may be losing brain tissue, or can not think problems through or what they are about to commit, but that still should not be an excuse to take away some innocent human being’s life. Gail Garinger states that juveniles do not deserve life sentences. “They are less mature, more vulnerable to peer pressure, cannot escape from dangerous environments, and their characters are still in information” (Garinger,93). Teenagers are usually peer pressured into such situations, usually when parents say hurtful things to them which causes the child feels depressed and hurt innocent people. In an article “ On Punishment and Teen Killer” Jennifer Jenkins made a strong statement.“ If brain development were the reason, then teens would kill at roughly the same rates all over the world” ( Jenkins, 91).
