Offenders Serving Life Sentences Life imprisonment is any sentence of imprisonment for a serious crime under which the convicted person is to remain in prison for the rest of his or her life or until paroled. I have read this definition on multiple websites. In my opinion, receiving the life sentence should become obsolete. Many prisons have the issue of overcrowding. Several people do not deserve to be serving that sentence. For those that do, people can change; however, many prisoners experience unconstitutional parole denials. “America is Sentencing Way Too Many People to Die in Prison,” by Pamela Engel provided several facts about offenders serving life sentences.
