Should Schools start in later times
Are you a teen in high school and think that you should get more sleep time? Schools should start at a later time. Adults and Teens feel this way because teens need at least 9 hours of sleep, health, and academic problems.
Teens need at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Jodi Mclay, assistant superintendent of the school district in Temecula, California said “Among adolescents, recommended amount of sleep ( around nine hours) has been linked to higher test scores and better behavior.” (Sifferlin 1). This data shows that teens at least need a couple of hours of sleep in order to do good in school. “During the winter term ( later start time), the students obtained 29 minutes of sleep per night, and the percent of students obtaining 8 or more hours of sleep per night double. However, when the school schedule returned to the earlier start time in the spring, students’ sleep duration went right back to baseline level.” ( Boergers 6). “Starting classes at 8:30 or 9 a.m. Might make it harder for parents to get to work on time, and shifting the bus schedule to like cost at least 1 million, more than the district could afford.” (Sifferlin 1). This explains that it's going to be hard changing the times but do you want your kid to have health problems and no get up for school and learn. “The are several things working against it--bus schedules, after-school athletics and activities, and I gaze to say it, but an adult bias against teenagers, the ‘you slug-a-bug! We got up early, you can do it too.” (Combine 2).This information proves that teens are can have little problems to change change times but it's like a 2 hour day.
