Being Hispanic is not just a physical genetic trait. It means hard work and reaching for the stars are both extremely important to me. Since I was a baby, I have been raised in the Hispanic culture, and the work ethic that I have seen in people around me is astounding. My father immigrated from Mexico when he was only eight years old. He was the first in his family to graduate from college, nonetheless with an electrical engineering degree. He worked hard his whole life, and he now reaps the reward everyday. For the past twenty years, my mother has taught an English as a Second Language Class for Hispanic adults. Her students are amazing because they have families and jobs, and yet they still attend class and do their homework so they can learn …show more content…
The statement makes visible the importance of heeding the mistakes of others as instructions for our own lives. Rising to the top happens all the time in American society today. Athletics, academics, and occupations would all be areas in which we can teach ourselves how to excel. One example of "playing better than anyone else" that I have personally experienced is living in the greatest country on God's green earth: the United States of America. The founders and leaders of this country observed the success, or lack of success, of other countries. They proceeded to found a country based on freedom, which they found to be imperative to a success. Freedom, indeed, remains the foundation of America to this day. The founders learned the rules of the game, and then they certainly played better than everyone else. While the constituents of other governments received freedom only in certain areas of their lives, Americans are allowed freedom in almost every action we take. The U.S. Constitution and The Bill of Rights are far better than all other documents upon which other countries were founded. This statement could apply to various different aspects of history, as well as everyday life, but it certainly applies to how this country came to
