Introduction: The Great Depression affected white Americans, but other minority groups were hit much harder. In many different ways that many whites did not have to experience. Blacks were one of the first people to be let go from their jobs. Also racism was at a all time high. Even more dispersed in the rough economic hardship that was endured.
During the first year of the Great Depression, black Americans were being laid off at an increasing rate.

By 1932, there was a 50 percent rate of unemployment for Blacks.
They held occupations such as elevator operators,farm laborers,garbage collectors, street cleaners, waiters, and bellhops. These jobs were suddenly in high demand by the white community during the economic crisis. Unfortunately,
