Ponyboy identifies himself as one of the “greasers”. Ponyboy is rather more different than the same from his peers. He is like his peers because he greases his hair and is proud/happy he’s a greaser just like the rest of his peers. He’s more different because he tends to stay out of trouble and others rather find him more sweet and kind than scary and mean. Ponyboy also cares a lot about others and his grades in school. He also loves to read and watch movies.

Sodapop and Darry were described as blondes in the book but they were brunets. It also said in the book that Ponyboy is blonde almost a redhead and in the movie he had dark brown hair.
In the book, Cherry acted like she didn’t hear Dally but in the movie, she didn’t act like she couldn't hear him she was just ignoring him. In the book, they described it as if Dally was saying dirty things to Cherry but in the movie, Dally was saying mean things to her. Also in the book Ponyboy mentioned Sodapop’s horse to Cherry but they never talked about that in the movie as well.
In my opinion, they described the murder scene better than they showed it in the movie. In the book, they used a lot of words to describe how it felt and their emotions but in the movie they didn't show much other than the socs drowning Ponyboy and when Ponyboy ended up passing out and everything went black. Also in the book Sodapop, Darry and Ponyboy seemed like Johnny's death had impacted and affected them more but in the movie, they didn't really show that much emotion towards Johnny's death. Lastly, in the book, they didn't have a part where Ponyboy spoke about Bob’s death but Ponyboy did talk about his death in the movie. Overall, in my opinion, the book showed more detail and expression than the movie did. The movie didn't show much emotion that the characters had in the book and didn't really express how they all felt about everything that was going on but in the other hand the book did show much more expression and it was well
