In the film Born on the Fourth of July, there is a teenager, Ron Kovic, believed in anything and everything that is good or something related to the good. He was shy around the girls that were his age, but he secretively read Playboy magazines. He was a normal and typical all-American Catholic boy. He participated in his high school wrestling team and, he wanted to win so badly. He wanted to win so badly that he based his belief in himself off of winning. When he graduated from high school, he had enlisted into the Marine Corps. He had enlisted because he wanted to fight, specifically, in the Vietnam War. Ron was born on the fourth of July, and he felt that because he was born on the fourth of July, he was born to fight for his country. In return, he was ready to fight for his country, that was in need of soldiers, and he was willing to fill his destiny by fighting for his country. …show more content…
More specifically he was shot through his spinal cord, which had left him paraplegic. This means he was paralyzed from the waist down, which is emotionally and physically weighing on him. He felt like the only thing he was meant to do is to fight for his country, and he had lost that forever. He had to recover the spiritual faith he had lost, and he had to find his way back to his faith. When the war ended, Ron had become a restless, merciless, and relentless spokesman for the veterans from Vietnam. He had found that his childhood was now gone, and it was gone
