These pythons thriving in warm climate are beginning to change local animals in these ecosystems, change the people around, near, or even involved in this, and changing the overall ecosystem in the Everglades. However, is a python hunting challenge the best way to resolve this problem? To begin, Burmese pythons are one of the world’s largest snakes - native to Southeast Asia - capable of growing an astounding 23 feet in length. Although it has no venom, its tactics to hunt and kill is to first, bite the prey and then it coils itself around the prey and squeezes the life out of the prey until it dies. They are depleting rounds of animals in the Everglades. There’s an estimated tens of thousands of Burmese pythons lurking about in the Everglades. These pythons are consuming animals species such as opossums, raccoons, bobcats and as well as many species of birds. Without a natural predator to stop them, they are killing off many of the species in certain areas of the Everglades. The natural predators will have to compete against the Burmese python to get prey in order to survive. The odds are, the Burmese pythons might succeed and the other predator will either die or leave.
