The patient is a 24-year-old individual who was injured on 01/20/2017. The patient was sent to work at a candy manufacturer, when on 01/20/2017, she developed severe hand, wrist, and bilateral extremity pain. During that time, she was doing her usual and customary duty of mixinq ingredients and scooping melted chocolate. She had to scoop very quickly while gripping the scooper for the chocolate. She had to carry very heavy trays full of candies and had to bang them on the table to get the candy out of the trays and over time. She developed a worsening hand pain, wrist pain and numbness in both extremities. She described that she was doing a clerical position at this time, but that she had continued pain and weakness in both hands and wrists, particularly when using the brace during the day. She has since transitioned to another place of employment and works full time as an onsite supervisor which meets her need for less heavy use of her upper extremities. …show more content…
Medications included Levothyroxine 25 mcg and voltaren gel 1% topical gel. Prior treatments included hand therapy, Ibuprofen and a brace for both hands.
