The Boston Massacre happened between the British soldiers and the colonist. ts of America, and was started because the British were making unfair taxes on the colonist. This made the colonist very furious. The colonist decided they were going to protest against this. A huge mob of angry colonist formed outside of the state house. The commanding officer British Captain Thomas Preston ordered his troops to get their bayonets and guard the building. The colonists were taunting the British soldiers with snowballs and stones when one of them hit Private Hugh Montgomery which caused him to discharge his rifle at the mob. This then caused all of the other soldiers to fire their weapons. After all was said and done, there were 5 colonists and 6 soldiers
