After several taxmen were assaulted as protest to the Stamp Act, a group of colonists started pelting rocks at a group of British soldiers. After a warning to cease by the British, the soldiers fired at the crowd, killing a freed slave and a couple of other people. This act, known to the colonists as the Boston Massacre, sparked outrage and further protesting in the colonies, leading to the Boston Tea Party.
