Ghandi, the man who proved to the world the effectiveness of nonviolent resistance once said, “An eye for an eye makes the world go blind.” Following the ways of Gandhi, Cesar Chavez became one of the most influential and respected labor union organizer and civil rights leader. In 1978, Chavez wrote an article for a magazine where he explained and argued the effectiveness of nonviolent protesting compared to violent resistance. You can feel the passion Chavez has through this article and he uses comparing and contrasting, personal pronouns, and connotative diction.
Throughout the whole letter, Chavez compares and contrasts nonviolent resistance to violent resistance. He does this to highlight the importance of nonviolent protesting.
