I think I meet the qualifications of the Character pillar in the NHS because of the way I interact with other people on a daily basis, because of the activities that I am involved in. I try to display my character everyday by treating everybody with respect and treating them the way I would want to be treated. One example of an activity that I do that exemplifies my character is playing high level junior golf tournaments around the country. At these tournaments, I often play with adults in a junior-am setting where these adults are sponsors who help pay for the event. Playing with these adults who have important connections shows my character by helping me respect my elders. Also, these high level junior golf tournaments help me develop important character traits like patience and perseverance. Golf is a game of lots of ups and downs, and I think experiencing these highs and lows helps you develop these traits like patience and perseverance. …show more content…
One reason why becoming a member would mean so much to me is that it greatly helps prepare me for college and beyond. Volunteering for the community that comes from the NHS would not only provide me with great experiences and memories, but it would help me to give back to the community in a positive way. Also, the NHS will provide me with great leadership skills that will be very important for the rest of my life.
