Child labor was a major factor in the industrial revolution because of the tremendous amount of work the children had to go through. The children who worked in the factories were stripped of a normal childhood and given a terrible and painful one. They missed out on life opportunities and suffered for years. But why is child labor still happing today in canada, the problem is people don't see it because it's simply “invisible”.

Child labor came to be in canada in the mid 1800s. At this time poor european immigrants had come to canada. Factory owners were looking for cheap and malleable workers, and started targeting children from poor families that were desperate for money, and orphans that were desperate just to survive. So the factory owners took hired them and promised them a good pay, food and health care, but they were lucky if they got that.

Children that were workers were submitted to slave like work.

But also the fact that they got very poor pay and were beat days on end, and had to breath the toxic chemicals that the factories were giving off.

Child labor in canada is still happening today even if you cant see it happening. For example in the case of 13 year old Maxime Degray was crushed by a slow moving tractor, when he fell off while driving it. The reason this case was not very consequential to the people allowing him to work was because of the debate that whether or not children should be allowed to work on farms, if it's family owned.

Even if the child labor is not in like slave like conditions anymore, it does not mean it's not happening. In my opinion canadians think child labor mostly happens over seas so they don't think that it's happening here. The problem is it's simply “invisible” to those it does not affect. The child labor happening in canada has to stop no matter how bad it
