The second piece of art I selected was “Christ before Pilate” in this painting that is an oil, canvas, we gather Jesus is nearing his death. This baroque art piece reflects the religious pressures of the time. During the creation of this painting the desire of the Catholic Church in Rome tries to reassert itself in the wake of the Protestant Reformation (Helen p. 516). Once inspecting the painting we see Jesus is calm ready to accept the fate that is to transpire. Unlike Jesus the crowd depicted in the painting is wanting this injustice to continue. Nevertheless one can also see the dark side of human nature in this image. The reactions in the crowds are elaborately articulated in body language and facial expressions. It is clearly visible the emotions exist for each subject. This specific art was created to communicate religious themes in direct and emotional involvement. The contrast is realism painting conveys the truth without changing or over exaggerating elements in the paintings. This type of style try’s to shows life forms in accurate descriptions in lights, colors, and details. Realist works of art may emphasize the ugly for an accurate description of the world such as works of social realism, regionalism (Encyclopedia 3). The picture of Jesus in “the Adoration of Shepard’s” being born in the manger shows the start of his life. In contrast “Christ before Pilate” have Jesus approaching his death. In mutual paintings we comprehend key important moments in Jesus’s life and the effect that each moment has altered mankind. The comparison of both painting remains that Jesus is illuminated in all white clothing in equally infancy and adulthood. Commonly in the painting Jesus has a crowd of witness nearby him on behalf of his birth and trial. Jesus is shaped innocent in equally both paintings. In difference the first painting “the Adoration of Shepard’s” he is being loved and worshipped, on the other hand in the second “Christ before Pilate” Jesus is being judged and accused. In the first painting “the Adoration of Shepard’s” we see Jesus’s angels watching him from above but, in the second “Christ before Pilate” we see Jesus standing alone waiting the fate to be revealed. Equally respective paintings are saturated in rich colors for the world in which Jesus lived in. For each paintings there is a difference in tinting and lighting in “Christ before Pilate” the saturation in the atmosphere is darker more somber for the events that is to transpire.
