Coloring Law, Grace, and God forbids
Law, grace and God forbids are terms in the Bible that have been very debatable with the church. Many people are so afraid to walk in God forbids that they walk under the law. Some people have made statements about greasy grace having no understanding how marvelous the grace of God is that has been bestowed upon us. Other people have thought that too many Christians tried to put rules on people that don’t matter. The reason they believe it does not matter what they do or don’t do is because of grace. The balance with grace seems to be hard to grasps. However, in watching my children color, I believe I have seen a clear example of Law, Grace, and God forbids. For instance, my son Tyler colored by the law. Every time he got out of the lines just a little bit or picked up the wrong color of green, I would see him hitting himself in the head. He would

They believe they are ruined or they have ruined someone else. They have a hard time forgiving themselves because they have missed the mark. In essence, there is no joy or peace because they let their mistakes rob them of serving the Lord with gladness.

Then I had Nathan, who colored in a God forbid kind of way because Nathan never really cared about what his picture looked like. Nathan would pick up a crayon and scribble across the page. Nathan did not aim at anything, nor did he care if he was out of lines or colored it some crazy color. Nathan’s attitude showed he did care nor enjoy the art of coloring.

Now the person with the God forbids mindset never aims at anything. They do not care how or what should be done to bring honor to the Name of Christ. They believe the rules do not matter because Jesus took care of the rules. Their hearts are not looking to become like Christ. This kind of person misses the joy of living and having God work in their
