Communication and the World
Communication can have a great impact on many aspects of life
.
In everyone's life they will experience a moment that will cause them to see the world in a certain way
.
The way someone interprets that world defining moment will be different than the way someone else interprets it
.
When families communicate they share these experience with each other
.
These experiences can have a negative and positive ways that can be interpreted differently between a family
.
With
Communication between families, it can bring upon changes
.
Communication between family members can change how one goes on with life
.
When communicating with a family member they often tell a person what went wrong in their life and how they wish they could go back and change it
.
This can promote one to do the opposite things that their family member went through and improve their lives in the future
.
For example if a father is telling his son how he wished he had finished college so he could have gotten a better job . The son hearing this now knows that if he changes what his father did it will give him a better future
.
Before this conversation the son could have had the mindset that if his father is doing good without college so can he do the same
.
After this conversation the son now knows that his father regrets it and it will change his mind
.
One might experience a moment in life where they interpret it to be not important but someone else may go through the same thing and it can change their view
.
For instance one may stumble upon a quote that they like but it has no significant value to them
.
They share the quote with a family member and they can relate to it more and they use it to impact the way they

continue on with their life
.
In “Superman and Me” Sherman picks up a book that belongs to his father . To his father there is no difference between this book and the rest of the books, but to sherman this book proves to have major significance in his life
.
Although there is no verbal communication between the son and the father there still communication through the books
.
In the sons life the book serves as a different outlook on life then he was accustomed to
.
Sherman states “ At the same time I was seeing the world in paragraphs(1)”
.
Because of the communication between the father and son it is giving the son a different outlook on how the world can be seen
.
This shows that communication between family members can impact the way one sees the world
.
Sherman also states “ If he’d been anything but an Indian boy living on the reservation, he might have been called a prodigy
.
But he is an indian boy living on the reservation and is simply an oddity”(1)
.
This shows that the conversation between Sherman and his father through the books made sherman unique
.
Before reading the books Sherman would of fell into the stereotype of a nativeamerican
.
But instead the books change his outlook on the future and then he started his journey to become the writer he is today
.
Communication between family members can also bring one to come to a realization about the world
.
With the different age groups that are present in a family the communication between family members may bring them to a different time
.
White states “a person remember one thing and that suddenly reminds a person of another thing”(567)
.
This shows that before the conversation with his son occurs he is reminiscing about the lake and he's putting himself in his son’s shoes
.
Before the communication that was brought upon by the camp the father didn’t

realize how much time has past between the time his father took him to the camp and when he took his son to the camp
.
In “Once More To The Lake” White states that “ I watched him, his hard little body, skinny and bare, saw him
