Dance has affected my life more than almost anything else. As part of a team I gained valuable skills that will help me throughout my life. Being the captain of the dance team presented me with the abilities of time management, interpersonal skills, and leadership capabilities, among many other skills.
Above all else high school has taught me the most about time management and it will be one of the skills that will take me the farthest in life. Freshmen year was a hard transition that led to multiple long nights of doing homework until the wee hours of the morning. Needless to say, I quickly learned to balance my schedule and stopped procrastinating until the last minute to do homework. Dance team took up a large portion of my time, but I realized that my grades were more important and should be given just as much time as dance did. I have facilitated in creating a connection between Sonic and the dance team and I am currently working on a few others. Normally I am fairly quiet and reserved, but I know that in order to build a relationship between a business it takes an outgoing personality and a bright smile. Interpersonal skills assist in networking which is needed in any kind of business, whether it is a profit or nonprofit organization. However, this skill is used in more than just business deals. It can help with creating a relationship between myself and a foundation for the project, but it also builds relationships with people in general. Savoir-faire is a skill that will help in any situation. People need to be focused on how their words and actions are perceived and affected by others.
