As health care reform and federal incentive for “meaningful use” of technology have hospital, clinics and physician offices racing either to transition from paper or to update existing electronic health records (EHRs), nurses are carefully monitoring the effect of this technology on their ability to service patients (Schwartz, 2012). Electronic health records (EHRs) are a reality and it is constantly changing but is here to stay. The use of EHRs has been increasing over the years. Studies have suggested that the implementation of a basic EHR may result in improved and more efficient nursing care, better care coordination, and patient safety (Olin, 2012). The fact that technology is rapidly transforming health care should come as no surprise
