Curfews are a fact of life for many youth. There are large number of pros and cons associated with curfews. Curfews help society be safe for youth and adults alike. Curfews teach some responsibility to those who must follow it. Curfews can also come with their own problems for parents, teens, and law enforcement. Each pro and con of a curfew must be considered before enforcing it.
Curfews help society. Curfews help to take kids out of danger. Keeping youth out of danger should be one of the top priorities in society. When youth are in their homes at a decent hour they are safer than when they are on the roads or just out and about. Enforcing a curfew helps to take children off the streets and place them back into their homes at a decent hour. For example, if a teen has a 9 pm curfew, they should be back at home by then, and that will keep them from trouble and keep them safe. Parents want to know and ensure their children are safe to the best of their ability. Having a curfew makes it possible because their kids would be at home with them.

As an example, if you’re at home, your parents will know that you are safe and will have some peace of mind. This peace of mind stops parents from checking in with their kids constantly and will give kids some sense of freedom.
