Does staying in school and staying away from gangs and drugs make a teen successful in school? Gangs and drugs are a big part of highschool. Many students are introduced to drugs during their highschool years. In order to be successful I think students should avoid drugs and stay in school.

In order to become successful in school high school students should avoid drugs. They may abuse it and get addicted. First, using drugs can affect one's school marks. High school dropouts have raised as a result of substance abuses. Usually gangs pressure students into taking drugs. For example, in the book “The Gangs of New York” it shows how gangs include prostitutes, drugs, pickpockets, murderers and thieves. Students think doing drugs will make them cool and look stronger. Dropping out of school won't get one into university or college. Students need education too live a good and peaceful life. Without education people wouldn't have a job and you would be on the streets. For example, in the movie “The Blindside” Michael Oher wasn't in school until Tuohy Took him and he joined school again. As he realized football was his career he worked hard in school and became a professional football player. Since, he stayed in school he got above a 2.5 GPA to be apart of the team. He was offered a spot on the roster for the best college. Eventually he was drafted into NFL. Secondly staying in school will get one a job that pays a lot. In example in the movie,“Gifted Hands”. Ben was from a poor family at first. He wanted to make his mom happy so he worked hard in school. He used to be getting bad grades but now he is getting the best grades in his class.
