I am extremely honored to be a participant of the Flanagan A Guard 2016. To start off I think I would make a unique captain. Last year, I was an equipment captain of the Flanagan A Guard. My first year in color guard I was an equipment captain in JV. I am reliable, have many years of experience, always have a fantastic attitude, and maintain my grades. Although, I am a freshman I believe I am still eligible for a captain position. It’s important to realize I am a responsible person. From JV guard, my first year, I have learned that having your equipment taped properly and being in dress code is very important. During one of the practices at A Guard a person’s bolt flew out of their flag pole. The bolt could have hit someone or something and caused an injury to the school or a person. You, as a guardie, should also have your name written on all of the equipment you own. At every practice I’m in dress code, have all my necessities, and extra items as well. I was involved in the IZone meeting, which I attended every practice. I performed in the 2014 Recital and the Broward County principals meeting. At the football game on November 14, 2014 against Coral Springs I was one of the 12 to 15 people who participated. I was the only middle school student who took part in the game, but it was worth it. I am also planning to participate in the playoffs this Friday. Over Thanksgiving break I practiced like I had never practiced before. I practiced as much as I could or until I injured myself. Although I was in band for marching season, I still tried to practice guard as much as I could so I could keep up with everyone else. In class, without anyone teaching me, I learned the intro flag work and some of the closer flag feature. With no color guard I do not know what I would be doing with my free
