What if we were prohibited from interacting with our friends and families? Would we survive in such inhuman conditions? It is discomposing to believe that we are capable of surviving in a dystopia without communication, but most of our world’s children are thriving today in that world. In just a decade, the next generation has resided the nightmare dystopia and we still continue to encourage them to settle in that world. Born in 1999, I was unaware of the existence of the computer until six years later. As a child, electronics rarely attracted my attention; instead, I sought happiness in my Montessori school where I could freely explore the classroom and interact with my friends. After being exposed to iPads at the age of 6 in school, children have quickly adapted to our technological world and many claim to be unable to survive without their device for more than 24 hours. Feeling isolated when away from electronics, the heavy usage of tablets and other devices prevents kids from engaging in human contact. Today’s antisocial youths only find comfort in their devices and are unaccustomed to communication. My generation could communicate with ease and it is worrisome to see today’s children interacting with others in an uncomfortable and awkward manner. Without engaging in human contact often at a young age, children are susceptible to developing an inability to interact with other people with proper social skills. Computers in Human Behavior’s research concluded that 6th graders without exposure to their tablets or other devices were better at recognizing human emotions, an influential skill, after a five day period while the children with regular exposure had difficulty doing this (Summers 2). Thus, communication through human interaction doubtlessly helps children develop these basic skills. Rarely having time to interact with others at a young age, kids may grow up to lack the ability to cooperate with others. Without learning to cooperate, many will become
