Immigration into the United States by the Mexican people was a long process that could be divided into the time period before 1910 and the after time period after 1910. In the late 1800’s and 1900 the rate of immigration was small compared to the immigration after 1910. There were several factors that helped to create this difference of immigration numbers. Some of the reasons that Mexican immigrated into the United States would be due to Mexico pushing them out and some would be due to the conditions in the United States pulling them over.
The beginning of the Mexicans moving into the United States began with the war between Mexico and the United States. The United States had pushed their boundaries westward and started moving into Texas. Texas had many resources and it was also owned by Mexico. While more and more Americans moved into Texas, the President decided that it should belong to the United States, declaring it was Manifest Destiny. Mexico, of course, did not want to give up their land and after many words passed between them, General Santa Anna decided to take action. Their first major war was at the Alamo.
