1970s and Music
Which decade do you think had the best music of all time? The 70s decade had a variety of pop, rock, punk, disco, and lots of other popular genres. Many things happened in these 10 years that made its mark on the decade. When The Beatles breakup happened it had a touch on music forever, when Led Zeppelin wrote “Stairway to Heaven” it changed rock music and the way people played guitar forever, and when war was finally over and everybody in the decade was all for peace, love and positivity, it definitely affected music and the world.

Disco came into the picture, rock and roll, pop, punk, reggae, hippy style music, and lots of other popular types of music. The 70s was a decade of variety in music. Glam and Punk mixed together and formed pop music, some popular pop artists and bands was Queen, Elton John, The Police, and Rod Stewart (Light, Alan). Music in this decade was evolving and slowly coming out of the hippie era. Change was a huge part when the new decade came about (Light, Alan). The 70s was known as the decade of “Stairway to Heaven”, a song written by Led Zeppelin, a very hot band at this time and still is popular to this day (Pond). The 70s was also the time that people were recovering from The Beatles breakup, a band that was popular in the 60s and finally broke up in the 70s. People were very heartbroken about this breakup, because they were a huge impact on music. In this decade two very important artists died both at the age of 27, it was Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin (Pond). Some of the most popular bands in this decade was Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Journey, Kiss, Fleetwood Mac, and lots more. Some important artists were Bob Marley, Alice Cooper, Elton John, David Bowie, and lots more. The 70s was a very influential decade in lots of genres of music.
