Wars, battles, murders and violence are what have shaped America as what it is today and it will continue to shape us in the future. While violence and aggression will always be involved to in human behavior, a large change has taken place since the beginning of the 21st century; Americans are becoming more docile and are being taught that violence isn’t the answer to solve anything. While the way American society is functioning is making America more peaceful, it’s also causing Americans to be less aggressive towards each other, making America safer, which in the long-run could make America a better place to live. While this non-confrontational approach to our culture is discouraging wars, and keeping Americans at bay, one can’t help but wonder what caused this large change in America.

Less deaths, murders and fewer domestic violence are the result of billions of dollars and many hours of effort put into programs that spread awareness to violence. Schools, parents, and media have been discouraging violence as well as publicizing violent tragedies that occur all around the world. This anti-violence campaign has taken effect on millennials and gave them a very negative outlook on violence, therefore discouraging it among younger generations. While this cycle of anti-violence is positive, it has changed the way we think. Millennials of today would rather talk things out than get physical with each other, they approach and handle sticky situations differently than other generations and approach mental health and bullying in a different light than their parents. This string of non-violence and awareness has not only changed our outlook on society as a whole, but also how individuals
