What were the various factors that propelled Europe to create maritime routes to Asia? The factors that made Europe interested in Asia in the first place was the crusades, the Pax Mongolia, and Marco Polo’s travels across the Silk Road. The three main reasons why Europe was so adamant about garnering new trade routes to Asia for trade for exotic goods and wealth, and for religion purposes.
